Travel Medicine and Vaccinations: Return Relaxed and Healthy

Every travel destination requires different preventive measures. Before a trip, we at your Munich primary care practice are happy to perform a comprehensive check-up and advise you on potential travel risks. Your current vaccination status should be reviewed approximately six weeks before your trip begins. However, we also optimize your protection for last-minute travel plans. We are happy to advise you on the necessary and recommended vaccinations for your destination, always taking your individual health status and the nature of the planned trip into account.

During the consultation appointment, you will receive an individual vaccination plan as well as information about the country of travel and recommendations for a travel first-aid kit. Travel consultations ($48) and travel vaccinations are voluntary services provided by health insurance companies, which must first be paid for on-site at our practice and can subsequently be submitted for reimbursement. You will receive the vaccines via prescription and pick them up at the pharmacy. The vaccination then takes place in our practice. The costs are covered by almost all insurance providers. Please check with your health insurance company in advance if necessary.

Premium Check-ups

For your extended preventive healthcare, we offer individual premium check-ups that cover the entire spectrum of internal preventive medicine.
Since statutory health insurance companies do not cover all services available in modern medicine, we offer these examinations to our statutory health insurance patients as supplementary self-pay services. In doing so, we ensure that the offers are tailored to your individual needs and health risks. For private patients, the following services are generally covered by insurance and are then part of the annual preventive care.

In addition, as your Munich primary care physician, we have put together two check-up programs that we consider particularly useful:

This preventive examination focuses on the timely detection of risk factors for heart attack, stroke, or general circulatory disorders. Stress on the heart and vessels, for example due to long-term hypercholesterolemia or high blood pressure, can be identified and addressed early.
The analysis of cardiac output is first performed using a cardiac echo. This examination also gives us indications of possible structural damage to the heart. Furthermore, the patency of the carotid arteries is checked with color duplex ultrasound. In addition to a heart rhythm analysis using an EKG, a full-body examination is performed, and blood pressure and oxygen saturation are determined. If there are indications of high blood pressure, we supplement the examination with a 24-hour blood pressure measurement. In a supplementary blood analysis, possible risk parameters for premature vascular calcification and arteriosclerosis are determined.

The 360-degree check-up is a comprehensive health screening. It is particularly suitable for individuals with a family history of illness, people aged 45 and over, and professionals who want to take active precautions for their health. The check includes all examinations of the cardiovascular check-up as well as additional ultrasound of the thyroid and abdominal cavity, a lung function test, and extensive laboratory and urine tests.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is an important pillar of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Its effectiveness for some indications has now been well documented in studies, for example, for back pain, headaches/migraines, or knee problems. The method can also be successfully used for stress and sleep disorders, as well as for asthma/COPD and allergic diseases.
It is important to integrate acupuncture into an overall treatment concept. For this reason, a detailed anamnesis interview takes place at the beginning of the treatment. Depending on the illness, the following forms of acupuncture are then used:

  • Classic Acupuncture
  • Microsystem Acupuncture (Ear, Head)
  • Trigger Point Treatment/Dry Needling

In our practice, acupuncture is performed by our colleague, Ms. Melanie Bauer. If you are interested, please first arrange a consultation appointment with the note “Acupuncture” at the Schraudolphstraße practice in Maxvorstadt.

Acupuncture is a self-pay service, billed according to the German Fee Schedule for Physicians (GOÄ). The treatment is usually covered by private insurance companies.

Diving Fitness

Our diving fitness examination ensures that there are no medical contraindications for your diving course or diving vacation.
In addition to anamnesis, physical examination – including cardiovascular and pulmonological examination and otoscopy – the diving fitness examination includes an ECG, spirometry with flow/volume curve recording, and pulse oximetry.
For individuals over 40 years of age, a stress ECG must be performed.

The cost of the examination is €90, with a stress ECG €130.

Boating License

If you need the medical certificate for your boating license, we are happy to perform the necessary medical examination: vision test, hearing test, color vision test, and general medical examination. Kinesio Taping

Kinesio Taping was developed in Japan in the 1970s. It differs fundamentally from conventional tape bandages. Classic taping immobilizes a joint with rigid material. Kinesio Tape, however, is very elastic and is not used for immobilization. It is applied using a special technique and, due to its properties, promotes blood circulation and lymphatic drainage in the affected region, leading to regeneration. Mobility is maintained. Due to the special material properties, the tape can remain in place for up to a week.

The applications for Kinesio Tape are very diverse. It can also be combined with other forms of therapy, such as physiotherapeutic measures.

Typical areas of application include:

  • Back pain (lumbago, sciatica, thoracic and cervical spine syndrome)
  • Tenosynovitis
  • Overuse injuries to ligaments, tendons, and muscles
  • Joint complaints (arthrosis, overuse)

We charge €15 for Kinesio Taping, including material costs. Private health insurance companies usually cover the treatment costs. Statutory health insurance companies do not pay for this service. Therefore, we offer Kinesio Taping as an individual health service (IGeL) to patients with statutory health insurance.

Infusions – Regeneration and Revitalization

Infusions can make a valuable contribution to restoring or improving your performance. They serve to regenerate and revitalize the entire body. Symptoms such as fatigue or exhaustion can be alleviated by individually tailored infusions. Infusions transport valuable active ingredients directly to the areas of the body where they are needed.

Restorative Treatments – Strengthen Immune System

In cases of vitamin deficiency, exhaustion, or to strengthen the immune system, we also perform revitalization treatments at your Munich primary care practice. The harmonious combination of high-dose vitamins, herbal active ingredients, trace elements, and other nutrients has a vitality-enhancing and strengthening effect.
